Because He lives.

Sunday is here. I often think of the despair and heartache the disciples felt on Friday as they watched Jesus on the cross. Taking His last breath, I imagine they looked on in disbelief. How could this have happened? The Messiah they had waited for, dead. Hope for freedom, gone. As they retreated to their safe place of hiding, I imagine they would have felt a heartache so deep, they felt it to the depths of their soul. As I read the gospels, I want to scream at them to hold on because hope is not lost. We know what … Continue reading Because He lives.

Taste and See

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him – Psalm 34:8 Have you ever come across a meal or a drink that looked a bit sketchy and you were uncertain whether you wanted to try it, but then when you did, you’re surprised by how good it tastes. Help me, Lord; take away the pain, Lord; fix the situation, Lord; take away the loneliness, Lord; help me to do the right thing, Lord. I often wonder if God gets tired of hearing the same broken lyrics of my song. I know I do. But, God. God in His love and grace and gentleness reminded me through a song the other day that He welcomes my broken song. The … Continue reading Sounds of Worship: A Broken Song

Significance

You don’t need a significant other to be significant. Yes. Just, yes.   I think we need to have an honest discussion about this perception and belief that we’ve allowed to infiltrate our social norm that people are not complete on their own. When I saw this poster online, everything in me wanted to jump up and scream, YES! For as far back as I can remember, happily ever after and a ‘complete’ life was presented as being married with kids and having a house and a dog. For years Hollywood and books and social media have pushed this belief … Continue reading Significance
