“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”) – Matthew 1:23 I love the name Immanuel. It’s one of the names of Jesus and means ‘God with … Continue reading But still, Immanuel.
Christmas can easily become about celebrating and festivities, but we need to remember that Jesus is the reason for the season. Continue reading Remembering that Jesus is the reason for the season
Yet another Christmas has come and gone for another year. For most of us, Christmas was spent with loved ones, sitting around a meal exchanging presents and just relaxing. It was spent attending church services and reading prayers and giving thanks. For many, it was a sweet day reflecting on the love of God, sent to us in the form of a baby born in a manger. While for many of us it was and is an exciting time of the year where we share love and laughter with those around us, for just as many, it’s a time of … Continue reading Christmas hope.
And just like that, Christmas has arrived. Each year it seems that the days go by quicker and quicker and suddenly, you’re standing in line waiting to pay for an armful of Christmas gifts. I don’t know about you, but certainly in my life, it has felt like Christmas has crept up on me and I am completely unprepared for it. It is a time when we can sit with our loved ones and enjoy a meal and make new memories to tuck away in the … Continue reading Tis’ the Season

Everything is done; presents are wrapped, the leg of lamb is marinating nicely, the table has been set in preparation for tomorrow and my outfit has been selected for church. So I sit here, chilling out before I head up to church for our Reflections service, pondering life since last Christmas. There is a lot to ponder. Life has been challenging and beautiful and just plain interesting since last Christmas. Life has taken some interesting turns: up, down, sideways, through underground tunnels. There has been new … Continue reading My Christmas wish for you
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas….with madness in every store! You know that it’s Christmas when you go to the shopping centre and find yourself faced with countless people running around madly, shopping bags dragging behind them and frowns that can be seen from a mile away. So much Christmas cheer and peace, especially when you hear the car horns blaring in the car park. I’ve learnt to keep my windows closed in the car park because I really don’t want to hear all the charming phrases people throw at each other. You really gotta wonder about what … Continue reading Tis the season…
