Minute Devotions: The Gift of Wisdom

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him – James 1:5

During Solomon’s reign as king, God told him to ask for anything and God would grant it. Most people would request a long life, riches, or victory over their enemies. Not Solomon. All he wanted was to lead his people well and he recognised that he needed godly wisdom to do it, so he asked God for wisdom. God didn’t hold back. He poured it out, making Solomon the wisest man of his time. God wants to do the same thing for us today.  We make multiple decisions daily and while some decisions are easy, some are difficult and require a lot of discernment. God has an abundance of wisdom that He wants to give us, we just have to ask Him and when we do, He won’t hold back, He will let His wisdom overflow over us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for your wisdom that enables us to make the right choices in life. We ask for your discernment and wisdom in everything we do. Amen.
